Perhaps most obviously, an affinity for history is expressed in their choice in location for jam sessions. Jam sessions often occur at historical sites such as Historic Hagood Mill in Pickens, the old cabin at Table Rock State Park, and the old schoolhouse in Oolenoy Valley. The old essence of these places seems to supplement the time-honored songs, almost seeming to bring the spirit of the past back to life. It is of note that these have been the traditional locations of jam sessions for over 40 years, their familiarity stretching over generations of players.
