Abney Mills, who owned a branch in Greenwood, South Carolina, as well as several other counties in the Upstate, published what they called the "Abney Mills Quills." In it, they detailed the events and happy moments of their workers' lives and shared stories between mill locations.
Maintenance and repairs to Mill Village homes was often performed by crews working for the mill themselves. The repairs were commonly paid for and completed by the mill. These papers act as Maintenance requests from the individual living in the home to the mill.
Abney Mills began selling mill village homes to their tenents in 1960. These reports indicate when, and for how much, a mill village home sold.
